Evraz

EVRAZ is a vertically integrated steel and mining business with operations in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy and South Africa.  It is amongst the top 20 largest steel producers in the world; in 2011, EVRAZ produced 16.8 million tonnes of crude steel.

EVRAZ produces 90% of the rails and 35% of the railway wheels in Russia. Russian Railways is one of EVRAZ's key clients and partners, with a longstanding relationship between the two companies of more than 75 years. Moving forward, EVRAZ and Russian Railways recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining a 5-year contract due to come into force in 2013.

EVRAZ ZSMK is currently completing the final stage of its reconstruction of a rail mill to launch the production of a new rail type up to 100 metres long, with a total investment in the project of 520 million US dollars. The 100-metre head-hardened rails are a new product for Russia and the CIS, and are comparable in quality with output produced by world leaders in this sector. The reconstruction of the rail mill at EVRAZ NTMK was completed in April 2012, with 60 million US dollars invested in additional finishing and testing equipment that extends the guaranteed life-cycle of the rails.
