Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of Russian Railways and myself, I welcome the participants and guests of the international conference "The Role of Railways in European Tourism."
It is difficult to overestimate the railway industry’s impact on the organisation of tourist flows in Europe. The platform offered as part of this conference to exchange experience and ideas in matters of railway tourism is designed to enhance the level of partnership between all members of this dynamically developing market with the aim of more broadly introducing advanced marketing tools and increasing the appeal of railway transport for European tourists.
It is extremely important that we unite our efforts in developing international transport corridors as well as improving legal and technical framework in matters of railway tourism.
I am confident that the international conference "The Role of Railways in European Tourism" will make a significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between tourism and railway companies in Russia and Europe.
I wish successful and fruitful work to all the conference participants!
President of the JSC "Russian Railways" Vladimir Yakunin
Governor of Bolzano province
I would like to welcome the participants of the first international conference entitled ‘The Role of Railway in the European Union’, its guests and organizers on the hospitable Italian land in Merano/Meran.
The conference aims to consider how to encourage larger tourist flows in Europe by more intensified railway connections across the countries and how to ensure the railway tourism is well attractive for people.
We will take up the issues bearing on the coordination in managing railway tourist packages, improvement of advertising policies, simplification of a visa regime, increase of tourist routs and other critical issues.
I would like to express sincere gratitude to those participating in the conference as well as those who organized it and wish you all fruitful work, bright impressions, new and useful business meetings, and every success in developing the railway tourism.
Governor of Bolzano province Luis Durnwalder
