   Russian Railways Joint-stock Company (RZD) is one of the largest transportation companies in the world, it holds the third position, after the US and China , by its freight traffic volume. General Insurance Company

On May 6, 1991, the U.S.S.R. Railways Ministry founded the Railway Joint-Stock Insurance Company (ZHASO).
Today, ZHASO has 51 branches and 111 sales offices in 67 Russian regions. Company branches are located at all large railway junctions, which makes it possible for the company to render the whole package of insurance services throughout Russia, from Sakhalin to Kaliningrad.

ZHASO performs all kinds of insurance and has an “A+” reliability rating according to the Expert-RA ratings agency.
According to data provided by the Federal Service for Insurance Supervision in the first half of 2008, ZHASO is in the top ten of Russia's largest insurers.

Closed Joint-Stock Company TransTeleCom (TTK) was founded in 1997. Its main shareholder is “Russian railways“. TTK operates and services the largest fiber network in Russia, which is more than 53 000 km long and has the bandwidth capability of 50 GBit/s. The network is laid along the country’s railways, has more than 1000 access nodes in all regions of Russia and connects Europe and Asia. Seventeen regional enterprises established in the largest cities of Russia, provide TTK services all over the country. 
Being one of the leading telecommunication operators, the company ensures 45% of the rent of National Private Lines, occupies 46% in the segment of trunk Internet access and 34% in IP VPN market. Consolidated income of TTK group companies in 2007 made 24,1 billion rubles, and the profit amounted to 2.6 billion rubles, which exceeds the same index of 2006 by 18%.
In September 2007, TTK started providing the services of long-distance and international telecommunication. TTK actively works on the international market. EurasiaHighway transcontinental route, organized by TTK, is the optimum telecommunication route between European and Asian countries.
In May 2008 TTK announced the start of new 2008-2015 corporate development strategy. The core of the strategy is entering the regional telecommunications retail market by introducing broadband access, local and international telephony for end-users. By the year 2015 the company plans to increase its’ yearly income 2.5 times. It will reach 50 bln rubles.

The First Freight Company was incorporated in July 2007, and as early as November that year took under control huge fleet of railway cars. Currently, it owns more than 200,000 pieces of rolling stock, including 75,000 cistern-cars, 47,000 gondolas, 15,000 flat cars, 14,300 boxcars and about 49,000 other cars. The company’s share in the total fleet of rail cars operated in Russia accounts for 21%.
The First Freight Company offers a full range of cargo transport services, including round-the-clock dispatcher monitoring, freight forwarding and control of cargoes during rail and multi-mode transport operations, as well as tariff setting, marketing and legal support of transport projects.
The company’s near-term objectives include rolling stock renewal, the strengthening of market positions and further capitalization growth.
